Pilsen

The centre of the slightly wavy woody landscape is the town of Pilsen, the economic, cultural and social metropolis of Western Bohemia. Pilsen gained world reputation, first of all thanks to the production of Pilsner Urquell beer. The popular sites in the surroundings of Pilsen include the castles Radyne, Kozel, Manetin, Nebilovy and Zbiroh, the water hammer-mill in Dobriv or Jewish monuments in Spalene Porici and Kasejovice. Excellent conditions for sports are provided by the water reservoir Hracholusky and the valley of the rivers Berounka and Strela. It is also an important economic centre and an attractive business area thanks to its vicinity to the German border and latest developments of Pilsen.
